Meet Jaden
Today is National Intern Day, and we’re celebrating our information technology intern, Jaden Jones! Currently attending Kennesaw State University, Jaden studies cybersecurity and is on track to graduate in 2027. He plans to begin working toward his master’s degree while still an undergraduate.
From an early age, Jaden always enjoyed technology and problem solving. Cybersecurity, with its wide range of specialties and blend of analytical thinking and technology, felt like the perfect fit for his career.
Jaden has been involved in many organizations throughout his time at school. He served as the president of Kennesaw State’s chapter of Collegiate 100 Black Men of America. In this role, he developed initiatives to foster connections and strengthen communication within the organization, growing it to 40 active members. As a senior, he will serve as a student advisor and mentor the rising president. During his freshman year, Jaden was part of the African American Male Initiative, driving better graduation rates for the university. While in school, Jaden completed the cybersecurity bootcamp, Codepath Cyber 101, where he worked with a team for ten weeks learning cyber principles and utilizing John the Ripper for a password cracking final project. Jaden is currently studying for his Security Plus (Sec+) certification.
Looking for real-world experience, Jaden began searching for IT internships outside of Georgia. He was impressed by MetroConnects’ LinkedIn presence and immediately applied for our summer internship program. Jaden’s knowledge and willingness to learn made an impression on our team, and he was soon hired to begin his internship.
During his summer at MetroConnects, Jaden has worked on a variety of projects and tasks with our IT team, gaining experience across several areas of information technology and cybersecurity. Among his projects, Jaden has created and deployed scripts, prepared computers for employees, assisted with help desk tickets, and helped install and configure physical network infrastructure.
One of Jaden’s favorite parts of his internship was collaborating with our IT team to address the unique challenges and opportunities of ensuring technology worked seamlessly in a brand-new, larger facility. These experiences have strengthened his troubleshooting skills and given him a firsthand look at what it takes to implement technology from the ground up in a new space.
When asked about how his internship has prepared him for a future in IT, he replied: “MetroConnects is a company that’s all about being part of a team. Cybersecurity and technology professionals often work behind the scenes and behind screens. Here, you work as a larger team where you can collaborate and make an impact. I have more confidence in choosing my next direction in cybersecurity because of the variety of projects I completed. In technology, you learn a lot of hard skills, but here you also develop the soft skills necessary to be well-rounded and engaged.”
Jaden wishes to thank the entire IT team at MetroConnects for this opportunity, his friends in the technology field for their support, and his family for encouraging him to pursue his dreams.
